USA
Softball, formerly known as the Amateur Softball Association (ASA), is the
recognized governing body of softball in the United States, and the sponsor of
Team USA internationally, including the sport's re-emergence in the 2020 Summer
Olympics in Tokyo.
USA
Softball NJ is one of the country's premier state organizations, and District 2
is among the strongest and most active districts within that organization,
having been named the best-run district in USA Softball NJ for 2017.
Although
based in Union County, the district is active in both youth fast pitch leagues
and adult slow pitch leagues in Union, Middlesex, Essex and Morris counties. We
are involved in approximately 30 leagues, and numerous tournaments, with a total
of approximately 4,000 games a year. We have a roster of 150 dedicated and
trained umpires, and run an intensive and well-attended umpire school in the
winter.
We
are always looking to promote and nurture the game we love, and welcome the
opportunity to accept new umpire candidates, help local leagues with
administrative help and umpire assigning, and help nurture and advise local
programs who want to thrive and grow. If there is anything we can ever do to
help you or your program, please reach out.
